Turbines ordered for Ireland's largest wind power plant

The Boggeragh Mountains project, described as the largest wind power plant in Ireland to date, is gaining momentum.

As per the information available, funding worth €100m has been marked for the project, which will generate about 162 GWh per annum – enough to satisfy the annual electricity need of more than 30,000 Irish households.

According to independent.ie, a consortium is providing the long-term finance for the construction of the 57-megawatt (MW) stand-alone wind energy site.

In a related development, Vestas has received an order for the delivery of 19 units of the V90-3.0 MW turbine for the Boggeragh Mountains project located in County Cork, Ireland.

The order has been placed by Green Energy Company Ltd and comprises supply, installation and commission of the turbines, a VestasOnline Business SCADA system as well as a long-term service agreement.

Delivery of the wind turbines is scheduled for the autumn of 2009.

Wind Prospect has already been appointed project managers for the Boggeragh Mountains Wind Farm.
