Repower bags new orders for supply of 44 wind turbines

REpower Systems AG has signed contracts in France and the US for supply of 44 wind turbines.

The REpower MM92 turbines, each with 2 megawatts (MW) rated power, are intended for wind farms in the North East of France and in the US State of Oregon.

The order are as follows:

·          Les Hauts Pays project, Haute-Marne, France: 34 REpower MM92 turbines

·          Echo project, Oregon: supply of 10 MM92s to new customer John Deere Renewables

The wind farm Les Hauts Pays in the French department of Haute-Marne will be operated by the French project developer Erelia Haute Marne, a subsidiary of the REpower client GDF SUEZ.

Referring to the contract in France, Jean-Pierre Gay, the interim MD, REpower S.A.S., said the company has already completed several projects with Erelia.

"Together with our client, we have already begun cooperating with the grid operator Réseau de Transport d'Electricité (RTE) and carrying out simulations to enable us to fulfil the special network requirements of the site," he said.

The turbines are scheduled to be supplied and erected in the first quarter of calendar year 2010.

Regarding the contract in the US, REpower shared that it will supply MM92 turbines, each with a hub height of 78.5 metres, for the Echo wind farm and the turbines are scheduled to be brought into operation next year by REpower's US subsidiary REpower USA Corp.
