Tucson Electric Power and AREVA to speak at CSP Today USA in Las Vegas

Arizona utility Tucson Electric Power (TEP) and CSP developer AREVA solar have been announced as delivering a collaborative presentation at CSP Today USA 2014 (5-6 June, Las Vegas).

AREVA Solar was the technology supplier for the 5 megawatt CSP booster on TEP’s H. Wilson Sundt Generating Station in Tucson. This project will be the subject of presentation at CSP Today USA 2014 as part of a session dedicated to hybrid applications of concentrated solar power. The solar booster annually saves emissions of 46 million cubic feet of natural gas or 3’600 tons of coal meaning that it’s output helps TEP meet their requirements under the Arizona Renewable Energy Standard.

AREVA Solar are notable for their Compact Linear Fresnel Reflector (CLFR) generators which produce steam to provide 5MW of power in peak demand periods.

TES will be joined at CSP Today USA by a fellow Arizonian Utility, Arizona Public Service, who will be speaking with major CSP developer Abengoa solar about the 280MW Solana plant which features 6 hours of storage. The Export-Import Bank of the United States will also be speaking at the event about the initiatives they have in place to support further CSP development.

At CSP Today USA 2014 (5-6, June Las Vegas) major CSP developers BrightSource Energy and SolarReserve will be speaking about the Ivanpah and Crescent Dunes tower projects.
