MENASol, MENAWind 2016 Awards: Siemens wins Best Wind Company

New Energy Update has announced the winners of the second annual MENASol and MENAWind Awards for companies operating in the Middle East and North Africa.

The program, launched jointly with PV Insider, CSP Today and Wind Energy Update, recognizes the most innovative projects and initiatives in the renewable energy industry.

More than 500 institutions from 59 countries nominated the best initiatives and innovations within eight categories. The winners were selected by votes from a panel of senior consultants and high-ranking association members.

This year's winners:

Government Renewable Energy Program: Dubai Supreme Energy Council

Wind Company of the Year: Siemens Wind Power

PV Developer: ACWA Power

CSP Developer: ACWA Power

Corporate Responsibility: Shams Power Company

Project Finance and Advisers: IFC World Bank

CSP Technology Innovation for MENA: GlassPoint EOR

PV Technology Innovation for MENA: First Solar

"All the winners have achieved so much in the last year," Octavio Murekian, Project Director of MENASol and MENAWind, said.

"They have built up hugely successful businesses here in MENA, they have all played their part in helping to deploy the next generation of technology and they also do so much beneficial work for our industry. It is great that their peers recognize their achievements – all are very worthy recipients of their respective Awards,” he said.

The joint MENASol and MENAWind conference was held May 25-26.

The conference will return for its ninth edition in 2017.
