Tender design, output gains key to DONG’s record-low Borssele 1&2 offshore bid price

A competitive Dutch tender system and favorable site conditions were key to DONG Energy’s record-low bid strike price of 72.7 euros per MWh for the Borssele 1&2 offshore wind projects, but the Danish utility likely beat other bidders by revving up efforts to maximize its energy production, optimize its operating costs and by securing lower-cost financing, industry experts said.

US storage deals to hike from 2016 if new tax rules agreed

The US could see a growth spurt in solar-plus-storage projects in 2016 and 2017 if the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) expands its energy investment tax credit regulations to include more energy storage uses, said Jigar Shah, co-founder of Generate Capital, a specialty finance company that builds, owns, operates and finances energy, water, agriculture and basic materials infrastructure assets.

California utility mulls compressed air storage to shave renewable energy peaks
